FAQS

I received an SMS with appointment details where do I go?

Confirm your appointment by reply SMS.

Paediatric HQ is located a St John Of God Medical Centre Bunbury.

700 Robertson Ave College Grove WA 6230 Suite 20, Ground Floor – within the Australian Clinical Labs office.

Parking at the Health Campus (St John of God Hospital and Bunbury Regional Hospital) can be busy at times and as such we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment time to allow sufficient time to park and arrive on time to your appointment.

Upon arrival to the Medical Centre please proceed through the front doors, past the stairs and Suite 20 is on the right-hand side after the stairs on the ground floor.

Our office is only open during appointment times so if you have any questions or need to contact us or you can contact us via email [email protected] or 0475 862 209.

Are you accepting new referrals?

Due to a large number of incoming referrals Paediatric HQ is currently closed for new developmental referrals.

Any referrals already received have been placed on a waitlist for an appointment in 2025.

Developmental referrals include those for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Referrals for strictly medical reasons are still accepted please send via your GP using Healthlink ID: mburrows or to [email protected]

If you are waiting for a Paediatric signoff for ASD and already have a psychologist assessment confirming criteria for ASD is met requiring level 1, 2 or 3 support,  – in some instances we can book a review, please contact us via email as we assess each referral individually.

Check back on our website for an update on when we open books to new developmental patients.

I have had a referral sent in from my GP/I sent in a referral, now what?

All developmental referrals are currently placed on a waitlist for an appointment in 2025.

If your referral has already been accepted, you will receive an SMS with appointment details.

Appointments are booked 3 months in advance, and the wait is 8-10 months.

If you have not received appointment details – this doesn't mean you won’t get an appointment.

You are welcome to email to confirm receipt of your referral – please allow 3-5 business days for a response.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

If your appointment is related to developmental or behavioural concerns (ADHD or ASD) we suggest booking an appointment with a local psychologist for a cognitive or behavioural assessment and having this information available before your appointment.

You are not required to have completed these assessments prior to your appointment with the paediatrician, so please keep your paediatrician appointment regardless.

Pyshcology assessments can be used to better understand behaviours in children that meet criteria for ADHD and/or ASD and having this information available at your appointment may save you time and mean you require less follow up appointments.

We work closely with several psychologists in the South West and are happy to provide recommendations if required.

At Paediatric Head Quarters we use the Vanderbilt Questionnaire to assess behaviours. Parent and Teacher input is preferred.

If you have an appointment booked, please contact reception and request a copy of the questionnaires to be sent to you so you can complete it prior to coming in for an appointment.

If you already have completed these assessments and/or have a diagnosis from another paediatrician please email a copy of your assessments, reports and letters of diagnosis to be reviewed by the doctor prior to your appointment.

How much will the appointment cost?

Paediatric HQ is a private billing practice, our fees are below the AMA recommended charge and accounts are required to be paid in full at the end of your consultation.

Consultation fees depend on the type of appointment required, a maximum expected cost can be explained to you over the phone or via email by contacting our team.

Applicable Medicare rebates will be applied for the account or may need to be claimed by yourself directly from Medicare.

Private health insurance does not cover any of the appointment fees.
